If the Trojans don’t make the playoffs next season, they still might be playing in week 10.

New Auburn School Board members and administrators met with WIAA Deputy Director Dave Anderson, Lakeland Commissioner, and representatives from the Alma, Elmwood. Pepin and Winter school districts and Chippewa Falls High School varsity football coach/New Auburn alum Chuck Raykovich to discuss eight-man football on Monday, May 5.

After much discussion, the assembled parties agreed that an invitational featuring possibly four football games using the eight-man football format should be played in week 10 to spur interest.

Raykovich, who wrote an article about shrinking football programs for the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association five years ago, volunteered Chi-Hi’s Dorais Field for the possible invitational.

New Auburn High School Principal/Athletic Director Brian Henning said that Dewey and himself were going to push for an eight-man invitational at Chippewa Falls next season in week 10. The Lakeland Conference was meeting on Wednesday, May 7 at Rice Lake, where the idea was going to be discussed. (more)
Bloomer PD To Mobilize For Click It Or Ticket
Safety Belt Enforcement From May 19 To June 1

Bloomer Police Department will team up with hundreds of law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin for the Click It or Ticket safety belt enforcement mobilization from May 19 through June 1. This year’s Click It or Ticket likely will be the largest coordinated law enforcement mobilization ever in Wisconsin, according to Police Chief Rick Carr.

“During Click It or Ticket, our officers will be patrolling in greater numbers, including night-time hours when safety belt use declines, ” said Chief Carr. “Our goal during the mobilization is not to write more tickets but to save lives and reduce injuries through voluntary compliance with Wisconsin’s mandatory safety belt law. However, if you are stopped by an officer and are not buckled up, you will get a ticket whether you’re driving or just a passenger. We won’t accept excuses, and you won’t get a warning or a second chance.”

Click It or Ticket combines intensified safety belt enforcement with a public awareness campaign, funded by the federal government. (more)
